ASK THE SAILING WIDOWS!!

That's where we're getting useful. Keep the keys, the wallets, spare bits of rope, pullies, get coffees and teas and chocolate... Behind-the-scenes maintenance.. What would they do without us??

Shearwater 1994 - It would definetly be a good idea to post a stolen notice around any shearwater links you can find (i.e. the association website?) as if the thief had any idea what the kit is for i am certain he will try and sell it to a shearwater sailor!

Also check on ebay for shearwater parts as they may well try and flog em online!

Sorry to hear about your stolen kit! Im also in the queue for the leg breaking!!

If you find some of your stolen kit for sale on ebay (e.g. the trailer) try and determine that its definetly yours and then email the ebay administrators and ask for his ip address to be blocked and any details they may have - e.g. name, address to be sent to you, however the details may be faked (likely if theyre floggin stolen goods ) If this is the case then you can find out the location of the machine according to its i.p. address but i dont think this is legal and thus the ebay admin are unlikely to do it!!

If it is sold on ebay your best chance of retrieving it would be to contact the buyer who is most likely to be innocent to the fact its stolen!

omg yeah i really hate getting stuff stolen sometimes i think people go sailing and 'borrow' parts from ur boat then forget to give it back.   but yeah you have to be carefull on ebay about stolen goods, tis why i dont like using it much

fill in the 'event report' form on the website front page
and your message will go up on the main page for
ALL website users to see, and not the smaller
number of us that delve into the forum's. There are
often stolen messages there, i think.

hope you find it / them.

Yeah Shearwater 1994 we have had a few problems at clubs near Burnham, Did you hear about all the oppies that were burnt, by local youths.

I would put a notice at our club but i realy dont hink that it would do anything as we dont live that near burnham and the boats arent likely to be able to be sailed at our club.

Reading your posts makes me feel sad.

I grew up in that area, and boats could be left just about anywhere, with all the gear on them,  nothing seemed to go missing,  lordy, I sound like me Dad now!!  but it is heart breaking when the odd few spoil our fun. Sailing relies on a certain amount of trust and this sort of thing angers me.

My father sailed at Brandy Hole  and I sailed at Little Wakering Yatch Club.

Have very fond memories of Burnham Week.

I hope you are able to track down your gear Shearwater1994
