The RYA also dropped open training for Lasers in 2000 and no one could have said which that was a low particpation class. I now organise over thirty weekends training a year for the class...

I've been a casual observer of this forum for some time and this subject has made me sit up and start posting.  Its great to see so many proactive people who are ready to air their views.  Thanks to those who set up the petition - I've posted a link on my club forum.  Hopefully many more people will air their views.

The petition is already going around the H5.9 sailors and at club level aswell. As for training indeed Andy Webb give advise and sets up training for H5.9, but advise is always given at open meetings and at club level in order for everybody to enjoy the sport fully.

I guess when the dinghy show is on at Ali pally the RYA will be getting an ear bashing from the cat sailors. LOL

Not dead, and they are working to help us, just not at the public fore front at the moment.  Watch this space....

This reminds me of the story when the whole youth squad (lasers, 420's, the lot) went to Hayling Island for training, and the cats were refused entry to the club because they were cats!  This, despite them being booked there to train.

They had to rig up and base themselves on the beach outside the club!

Chaps,

IF this is still a problem at the cat open, Yes, we can talk about it.  The rugby world cup starts at 20:00 so before that.

I feel I cannot "front" this as I do have a connection via my role in SCHRS which is part of the ISAF; BUT I am fully behind this and I will do all I can to help; I just do not feel I can have a formal "role" if we decide to form some sort of other association - and yess UKCRA is still alive.

Hopefully Rob White and Brian Phipps will be able to report in some whay after their meeting.  I do know that the whole of the White family will be out of the country at the cat open so they will not be there.

I am interested in signing the petition. Just a few questions for clarification. On the Olympic front the are RYA are suggesting that 8 categories [ probably 4 types of boats] get voted in en bloc and then the Tornado, Finn, Star and Yngling fight it out for the last two spots is this correct?

Hi fellow cat sailors

I've been following this debate with great interest. I'm hearing rumours that the RYA has been so underhand about this whole business that they actually had a planning meeting with the Hobie Cat class association within the past fortnight at which none of this was mentioned.

Now you'd have expected something to have been said, wouldn't you? They must have filed these submissions by then and known the potential impact on the youth teams.

Appears somewhat spineless...
