Go for it!
See if you can find one to try, and give it a go! They look like cheap easy fun if you dont care about there being no racing for them ( But I beleive someone is trying to bring the circuit back. ) Let us know how you get on! |

Alternatives to the EPS I believe are:
Phantom (good fleet racing, bandit on handicap but you need to be fat to sail one in a blow and expensive to get a competitive boat). Blaze (good fleet racing if you can find some, good on handicap in all but a drifter and can be picked up relative cheap) Vareo (if you fancy a kite, dont know much about these but they are reportedly hard work upwind but a great fun offwind) Solution (thin mans Phantom. Again hard work upwind, great fun offwind, new class and expensive to get in to) Everyone here knows my choice... advice would be to get out there and have a go before you make any choices. |

I currently have a vortex assy but in light winds its totally boring (and rubish) so i want a boat for those days. Also anyway when it does get windy my boat sits in the dinghy park and i go windsurfing!

Splosh Are you thinking of ditching the Vortex for the EPS or running two boats? The EPS is a bit of an armchair ride. Having done a test sail in one in 2000 I instantly cancelled my order with Laser and bought a Vortex instead. Don't get me wrong, the EPS is fine. But it's no faster thatna standard Laser and because it is vice-free (ropes are all in the right place, rudder grips well, proper centre-main, hiking almost unnecessary) it gets a bit dull to sail. If you are moving on from the Vortex tell us what is wrong with that boat. The Vortex's main problem is that the PY is not favourable in the really light stuff. Other than that, it's a great boat with the assymetric. |

So a fast stable light wind boat preff with assy and trap would be what you are after, cos you are going to go blasting on the windsurfer when it gets up? Sounds like you would might want to look at: Blaze (maybe add the assymetric yourself? It's been done before) or MX-Ray (difficult to sail well upwind) Nuts off wind. RS Vareo (I'm not a fan, but they seem to be catching on) These are all no trap but there isn't anything other than a Contender that is a stable single hander trap and it's not known for it's light wind performance. Musto Skiff & RS 700 are problable a little tricky. |

The EPS wouldn't be my choice.
RS300s are nice. |
