Replacement list for the 2- one kite, one kite pole, one rudder and stock, one tiller, a few extensions, countless ammounts of blocks and the Laser Centre put a new mast on her when we swapped her for the 5000. We also out of her free will put a few new sails on her and replaced all the ropes, the hull was still immaculate though. She was one seriously sorted boat and I still miss her  We only put a new mast on the 5000 and she was sorted when we sold her. The 49er has only needed a daggerboard due to a crew landing on it.

Saying that though we did really hammer the two over 4 years, remember going three sail reaching over taking 505s and the spreaders ripping off, not a nice experience and we were really screaming at that regatta till that point......gutted

Did Ian do that or was that down South? Can't believe we lost our pole by dropping it in the water, got a new one then found the old one washed up on the beach a few weeks later. Some boat eh?

They are fantastic boats - luvley on a three sail reach as someone already said.

Hi, having migrated to a Cat i've a few L2 bits kicking about, including a nearly new (white) kite if you are interested.

yes im talking about the loop in front of the mast that the spinnaker pole attaches to, and i find the bow catcher really helpful, i only fitted it a month ago and i never run over my spinnaker now!

Are you on about the metal loops on the mast for holding the pole or the ones at the front because I was on about the mast fitments. We decided to rip our bow catcher off because it usually caused more hassle than good and if you're dropping quickly, doesn't really matter about running down the kite appart from light winds when its not worth putting it up.

One loop means that the kite fills the whole of the boat when its dropped, two means that the kite won't go into the chute in the first place.  Its a bit of a catch22 situation.

The most valuble piece of equipment on the L2 is the loop of wire on the bow!

We had two of those loop things on the mast of our old boat, think it was a modification to help stop you from running over the kite in light winds, still didn't help too much....
