Well as the person that asked the question I feel i should add my comments for what they are worth.

I actually still enjoyed it but then sailing in a Graduate meant that we had pretty clear air for most of the event and sailing a dry boat with freeboard meant that we could keep dry and thus relatively warm!

Definitely an event that people should do but if you chose to give it a miss this year… well that was probably the right decision.

Any way useful thread, or at least it was for me so ill start a new thread now about the battle of the classes race J

QM Webcam currently shows poor visibility, light wind and a Thames Rater being launched. Could be a good bet...

The last time I did the Bloody Mary - in both senses - in almost another life time ago, conditions were similar.

When we got there with the old GP14 all the sheets were solid and there was ice on the launching ramps. I'm sure I've got some pics somewhere.

We started but packed it in because things were not working on the boat and I was so cold I was in danger of changing sex.

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

Having looked at the forecast I am going to give it a miss this year... Ironically I am going to go Ice Skating instead!

Ok fair enough, i've only looked at the forcast once and that was earlier so i didn't realise it had improved and lets be honest it is five times better
