Saw one of the Rondar hulled Altos in action today at Alton Water. I was impressed by the prototype when I saw it at the Dinghy Show however it does look even better 'in the flesh'. Sailed by Dave Carroll and Jono Baker (I think) , it was second on the water to a very sorted 5o5 and certainly looked very imposing with its large jib and square topped mainsail........if anything the kite looked a bit small, but admitedly that was in comparison to the monster symettric kite as used by the 5o5s.

And that's no mistake.

I haven't seen the article, but it was basically a bit of a longer than
normal forum post, it's on here somewhere, but at the time I was
probably still banned, whilst some of my posts were being published
here.

They did at least have the decency to email and ask if they could publish
it.

The Alto is now considerably improved over the one I was using last
season and I will order a new one for delivery next season, hopefully in
time for the dinghy show.

The Gnav failed in that race and I suspect we were trailing weed a lot
further than we should have done before I discovered it all over the
rudder.

We were very disappointed with the result, had it all hung together we
should have finished up there with the Ospreys which I might add were
faster upwind but we had the legs on them offwind and they are what
940, so the 930 we sailed off probably wasn't to bad under the
circumstances of it's current spec.

It needs a bigger chute and a smaller main in my view, that sail we have
large as it is, just twists off then flogs in anything over 10 knots, and if it
didn't we would never get anywhere.

But the new boat I saw at southampton, other than their persistence in
using that stupid cat inspired floating circular spinnaker dispenser that
we have proved to be useless over an over, is a very nice boat and now
it's kitted out with a half decent rig from selden instead of the cobbled
together superspars catastrophe we had to make do with, will rule, if we
do the race next year it will be a whole other story.

hahaha i especially liked the bit something along the lines of "we creamed off to a brilliant start" ... pretty impressive if this is true as it was his first open meeting?

What would have happened if they had won the Sheppey?

And the Py's set by the Big manf. arnt part of their marketing tool then ??!!!!

The alto isnt a one off its being produced by Rondar, suggesting its a one off means that there is no scope of building another!!
