Most Blazes have been converted to the new X (semi soft) rig by now although there are still a few of the original 10.5 rigs out there. Handicap wise it makes no difference (I could be wrong but I think the PY has always been about 1047). The conversion is easy enough all you need to do is find someone willing to part with an old X sail to get you going (they last forever though). Personally if it is for fun and only in the lighter stuff I would use the old 10.5 fully battened sail, the semi soft only really makes a difference when it is blowing. Paul |

My brothers got a yellow one (#884). I've had a go on it a few times and had great fun boat but spent more time swimming I reckon i'll keep the vortex over the winter now, and just see what happens Thanks for the help. Mark |

Considered an RS600? They're pretty good in the light stuff and certainly provide a challenge!

Musto's and 700's are most likely well out the price range. A blaze seems good but i would end up getting a cheaper one, probably not even a x rig does this matter or does the handicap change? Im also not a fan of varios, had a go in a few at Alton water (inculding... The Shed! Mx-ray, havent heard alot about these but look quite good on the computer (havent seen any in real life!?). Thanks for the help, Keep it comin' |

The EPS wouldn't be my choice.
RS300s are nice. |

So a fast stable light wind boat preff with assy and trap would be what you are after, cos you are going to go blasting on the windsurfer when it gets up? Sounds like you would might want to look at: Blaze (maybe add the assymetric yourself? It's been done before) or MX-Ray (difficult to sail well upwind) Nuts off wind. RS Vareo (I'm not a fan, but they seem to be catching on) These are all no trap but there isn't anything other than a Contender that is a stable single hander trap and it's not known for it's light wind performance. Musto Skiff & RS 700 are problable a little tricky. |
