The original design for the laser 2 had no spinnaker, then the regatta was designed with the conventional spinaker, then laser uk invernted the laser 2 fun which had a bodged bowsprit bolted to the foredeck and an asymmetric.  This was then superseeded by the 3000 which is the same hull but a different deck.  As for getting hold of bits, i doubt laser will have any knocking about, you could steal them of a dead one, or bodge your own.  hopefully someone will know where another one is so you can work out what you need.

laser 2 was the first, with conventional kite, with bags, and had coloured sails. The laser 2 regatta was a development mainly for the british sailors, where sails become white (remember the phrase.. racing sails are white!) and the kite bags were dispensed in favour of a spinnaker chute.

Not sure about fun etc

The Laser fun is a 2 with assymetric and not too sure but maybe cut back sails. The World's boat was a special edition of the boat which I think had anodised blue spars, and lots of lovely nice bits but still the same as the original boat, just aesthetically different.

I had a 2 reggatta "accent", which was a lovely boat.......

as you are only sailing the boat at club leave you could make your own spinni sytem and have the kite size that you want!!    hope you sort it out soon!!

You'd be best sticking to the conventional kite for a 2, their massive for the size of boat, it would keep the boat in the Laser 2 category where you have a good class of boats plus three sail reaching in the 2 is really good fun, the bow pops up easily and we used to be able to overtake much faster boats by just sailing the boat properly. Have a look at the two class association site to see if there are any kites going cheap second hand.

Bloke at my club with a laser fun (no kite version) had his own bowsprit system rigged up by a fab shop (stainless tubes one sliding inside the other) and bought a 3k kite to fly on it.  It ain't pretty but it works.

He may still have the designs if you're really interested.

Or just buy a 3k .......

PS: haven't we all had this conversation before ???

I actually preffered the Laser 2 to the 3000, the 2 seemed more demanding and i felt she was a little quicker, although the PY's say different. The 2 seemed more of a racing boat to me but that's probably because I raced 2s and did coaching on 3s
