This years East Coast Piers Race is taking place on 13th July with a practise race on 12th July.

Check out the Marconi ECPR Website here

Or the East Coast Piers Race Site

The Notice of Race for the ECPR is here

For those who dont know the ECPR is a Catamaran event starting at 08.30 travelling from the pier off Osea up to Walton Pier, a return distance of 50 Miles. This can take between 4 and 6 hours (depending on the wind!)

For those smaller catamarans, ie Dart 15's, 18s etc can do the shorter course to Colne Point, a retunr distance of 29 Miles.

For those wanting more information please contact either myself and I'll try m

  • Free on site camping Friday, Saturday and Sunday Night,
  • Weekend entertainment plus Friday night BBQ and drinks
  • Racing also on Saturday 12th July with prizes.

This is a major charity event raising funds to support "The Cirdan Trust" to further support their important work with socially or physically disadvantaged youngsters. Probably the longest established long distance race in the country, for nineteen years the East Coast Piers Race has attracted between 60-80 entrants. The 21st East Coast Piers Race promises to be another fantastic event this year and Marconi Sailing Club are looking forward to seeing so many familiar faces and welcoming all new competitors. For further information please visit www.eastcoastpiersrace.com

Thanks and see you there. (I'm on the RIB all Weekend!!)

Not allowed a tow bar so Alison can have the loony machine when I'm away playing sailing.

Just ask the kids how fast she goes around the corners when I get back...

This was last years Comittee boat that started the 2007 ECPR

I am not sure ATM what is the 2008 comittee boat or whether HMS Blazer is going to return.

Ok, I'll see what I can do for you Simon.

I thought it was great going down to Bradwell in the morning with the tide, very peaceful!

On another matter, DOES ANY ONE NEED A CREW????

I'm shouting cos Ratface is desperate to do it, and I am sure someone may want a crew to do the race. If not I'll ask at the club.
