Is it just cheaper labour costs making Richard Woof move manufacture of some RS boat to Brazil? Anyone ever expedited manufcture in South America? It's amazing that something as big as an RS800 hull can now be made on the otherside of the Atlantic and then shipped over more cost effectively.

when you say "bulk" what exactly do you mean?  Most fibreglass boats have to be made from a highly specific mould and usually there aren't that many of these moulds around (especially for a relatively new boat like the 800) because they have to be exactly the same because otherwise people would start complaining that one mould is faster, better shaped etc.   It's only easy to bulk build rotomoulded plastic boats like fevas, visions.......It must just be cheap labour costs over there and the cost of land of the factory they're built on and also the cost of their transport.

sorry i meant that they ship alot of them at once. i agree with you though the labour costs will make more of a difference than shipping costs probably.

However, they still manage to achieve a 20% difference in the hull weights!

since hyde sails have moved to the far east, delivery time has been slashed even with rarely ordered sails shows the reason why they have moved!

lifes to short to sail slow boats!

Its quicker to make then from scratch rather than quicker shipping times.
