Helly Hansen launches its summer 2016 high-performance sailing collection

by Zak Hillard 28 Apr 2016 22:09 BST 28 April 2016

Inspired by the Berge Viking Sailing Team

Leading global watersports brand, Helly Hansen, unveils its summer 2016 sailing collection, using the brand's iconic marine stripes to inspire sailors to explore the horizon.

In 1980, the all-Norwegian Berge Viking crew became legends within the Scandinavian sailing community by competing in the world's most challenging around-the-world regatta of their time, the Volvo Ocean Race. Helly Hansen outfitted these courageous sailors in Helly Tech® waterproof, breathable technologies and bold Scandinavian designs worthy of their Viking ancestors.

The Berge Viking's uniforms featured clean, crisp stripes inspired by the Norwegian flag and the distant horizon of an open ocean. The iconic marine stripes set the standard for future generations of adventurous sailors.

Today, Helly Hansen continues this standard with the launch of three traditional sailing jacket, each with unique modern twists. Helly Hansen offers weekend sailors the Alby Jacket (SRP £190) for men and women — fashion-forward jackets with offset marine stripes, vibrant colour combinations and a larger HH® logo.

The men's Salt Power Jacket (SRP £180) (left) is a modern take on Helly Hansen's iconic sailing jacket. Helly Hansen creates a bold look, with oversized marine stripes, an eye-catching HH® logo and a slim-fit for boat decks and city streets.

For women, the W Moss Jacket (SRP £190) adds Scandinavian influence to modern sailing attire with playful stripes, inspiring seasonal colours and a high-contrast hood to keep professional sailors visible in stormy seas.

All three jackets boast highly technical features within their clean, Scandinavian designs – from Helly Tech® waterproof breathable fabrics and fully-sealed seams to Solas reflective patches and comfortable fleece-lined collars – keeping users dry, warm and looking their best on the catwalk.
