Lymington Town Sailing Club End of Season Ball and Prize Giving

Richard Russell crowned LTSC Club Champion

The fact that the dinghy racing last Sunday was abandoned due to the high winds probably came as a relief to many of the LTSC Winter Series competitors who were recovering from the 'End of Season Ball and Prize Giving' that was held at the Club the night before.

The packed Club house was entertained by the duo act of the Swing Pack who managed to get everyone involved. Awards for all but the Winter Series were presented, most notably were the Rob and Jan Martin (RS400) who together won nine trophies including the 'Folly Cup' as RS400 champions. Richard Russell (Tasar) was close behind with five trophies including the President's Salver for the most starts. There were just two contenders for the Club Champion, which is worked out on points for all Club Series races. With just a two point difference it was Richard Russell who took the trophy over Rob & Jan Martin. For the keelboat class Cruiser Racing Series, Robin & Marcia Milledge, (Contessa Catherine) were the overall winners.

Racing does not stop at LTSC, with racing continuing every Sunday throughout the year. In January and February the Club hosts the Perisher Series, this is an open series starting at 11:00hrs from the LTSC river line. "Never have I felt such affection for a race committee in my life! It's over." Friday afternoon loomed closer and checking the forecast had become an hourly routine.
