An introduction to Campaign Manager

by Mark Jardine 7 Apr 2005 20:58 BST

What is Campaign Manager?

The idea of Campaign Manager is to make it easy to keep track of who is sailing on your boat in which events. You can add events and squad members to your campaign and it will send emails to the crew to confirm if they can attend events.

How do I start a campaign?

If you are not a registered member of YachtsandYachting.com you need to Register for Campaign Manager. You only need to enter you name, email address and weight and youll be ready to either start a campaign or join another campaign. To register just click the link in the Member Login box on the right hand side of the YachtsandYachting.com home page (click here).

Once youve joined, you will be able to start a campaign. Do this by using the link in the Member Details box which replaces the Member Login box. Starting a campaign needs only the basic details such as your campaign name, class and a brief description.

How do I use Campaign Manager?

There are five main sections Home, Events, Squad, Invite Crew & Email Crew:

Home

Here you can control all the basic details of your campaign and if necessary end a campaign when it is over.

Events

Use this section to choose which events you are doing. To find events specific to your class use the Search for Etchells events link which will find all Etchells events in the Yachts and Yachting Online calendar. If you want to do a wider search you can use the calendar search below or you can add an event not in the calendar. To control who is sailing in which event you can click on an event name and add any of your squad for each event.

Squad

Here you can control all the members of your sailing team. You can choose which events a sailor is taking part in and keep track as to whether they have accepted invitations to sail.

Invite Crew

Here you can ask people to sail in your campaign. Search the sailors database to see if they are already registered. If they are not, you can invite them to join by entering their email address. Once they register they will automatically become a squad member in your campaign.

Email Crew

Once you have selected who is sailing in which event you need to tell them about it. Campaign Manager will send each crew a personalised email with only the events they are scheduled to take part in. There are links on the email to confirm whether they can or cannot attend each event. Their replies will show in your Squad view.

View Campaigns

Each crew member can view the events they are taking part in through Campaign Manager. Sailors with multiple campaigns can colour code each one and view their entire racing schedule.

How about future developments?

Were always looking to improve our service and would like your feedback about Campaign Manager. If you find anything difficult or can think of more features that we should include on the system please email mark@yachtsandyachting.com .

I hope you find this service useful!
