by Emma Slater, RYA 15 Feb 2011 19:50 GMT 5-6 March 2011
Some fantastic talks and presentations are taking place at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show 2011 © RYA

There are just 17 more days (or 18 sleeps!) until the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show 2011, 5-6 March, held at the magnificent Alexandra Palace, London.

Alongside more than 200 exhibitors, in some 12,000 sq. metres of halls, there are some fantastic talks and presentations covering topics from simply putting your boat together, to honing your skills to get advantage at the start line and improving body condition to sail harder and faster.

You’ll also have the chance to see some spectacular boats from the old time classics of the Cherub Class who will be showcasing 60 years of the history with a selection of boats from across the decades, to the breath taking ‘Invictus’, the only C- Class wing sail Catamaran in Europe.

If you fancy something more hands on then register your place for the Volvo Towing Clinic or pick up some DIY tips over in the Boat Workshop.

Younger visitors can enjoy taking part in the great Diamond Treasure Hunt, with some amazing prizes on offer or build and race their own boat in the Holt Blow Boat Challenge.

There’s even the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of your sailing heroes who will be hanging out at the show ready to answer your questions, including: two times Olympic Gold medallist Sarah Gosling (nee Webb), Team Volvo for life sailors; 2009 World Champion and Olympic Bronze medallist Nick Dempsey and Paralympic sailor Helena Lucas, Skandia Team GBR’s Penny Clark and round the world sailor Mike Golding.

And that’s just the tip of the dinghy show iceberg! The Show will also be celebrating its 60th birthday this year and we would love you to come join us in the celebrations and unwrap your sailing season.
