Lightning368 Open at Oxford Sailing Club - Preview

by Lee Bratley 19 May 2010 08:42 BST 22 May 2010

The Lightning 368's continue their current open series at Oxford Sailing Club this coming Saturday (22nd May) with high hopes for continuing the close and friendly racing that has marked out the season so far.

After earlier rounds held at Hillingdon, Weston and Cotswold sailing clubs, Havershams Paul White holds a slender lead from John Claridge (Royal Lymington) with Caroline Key (West Oxfordshire) and Hugh Spencer (Royal Plymouth Corinthian) snapping at their heels.

Three races are scheduled for the day, the first being at a most convivial time of 11:30am, with the remaining two being held back to back after lunch.

With excellent turnouts so far this year, the Lightnings are enjoying quite a resurgence during 2010 with plenty of new sailors discovering the boat via a fantastic stand at the Dinghy Show and an all-new Association website, breathing new life into the class and providing a fantastic atmosphere for everyone involved with these super little boats.

Anyone wishing to see what the Lightning368 can offer should take a look at the website. With plenty of information and a very active forum, the site is the best first stop for any queries.
