New Sailing Results Web Standard in Development

by Mark Jardine and Simon Lovesey 3 Mar 2010 19:05 GMT

YachtsandYachting.com and SailRacer.co.uk Partner To Promote Sailing

The web is such an integral part of our everyday lives, now two of the leading online players in sailing, Yachts and Yachting Online and SailRacer, are working together to provide a web standard for sailing results and exploit the power of the web for sailing.

Currently results on YachtsandYachting.com reports are static tables which cannot be searched or analysed. By creating a new standard, using technology already developed by SailRacer, this will all change.

Looking to the future opportunities, this partnership will offer, Mark Jardine, Yachts and Yachting Online Editor commented, “Standardisation of sailing results will open up a wealth of new possibilities and increase the readability of this information. Our readers will be able to link results into their community profiles, keeping a record of their regatta history and progression. By working with other organisations within the industry we can help move the sport forward.”

“The SailRacer results system has evolved over the last three years to be the largest database of its kind, allowing results to be searched, published and analysed. We have tools to allow clubs and classes to easy upload results and publish across many different websites. We are pleased to be partnering with Yachts and Yachting, who have a large reach and established base, to help club and classes improve the exposure of their event reporting and results in a joined up approach,” explained Simon Lovesey, SailRacer Managing Director

Both YachtsandYachting.com and SailRacer have been working on technology for clubs and classes. This collaboration will yield some very interesting projects in the near future to make time-consuming tasks easier for all involved in sailing organisation and event management.
