36th Bloody Mary at Queen Mary Sailing Club

by Gael Pawson 10 Jan 2009 20:27 GMT 10 January 2009

Phantom wins Bloody Mary

Freezing fog greeted competitors at this year's Bloody Mary, with poor visibility right up to the first warning signal. Many commented that the conditions were 'evil' and many boats had frozen sheets to contend with as well as frozen crews!

Racing got underway in light airs and the eventual winner was Andy Couch from Blythfield SC in a Phantom. Second and third places went to National 12s with Thorpe Bay YC's Kevin Isles and Jane Wade taking the runner-up spot ahead of Tony Stewart and Elizabeth Ross from Northampton.

Class 'B' for Queen Mary handicap boats was won by Daniel Holman in his Punk dinghy, while Class 'C' for foiling boats, was won by the International Moth of Holowell SC's Gary Ireson.
