by Adam Page 7 Nov 2008 19:07 GMT 2 November 2008

On the 2nd November Bewl Valley Sailing Club hosted their third annual RS400 open. The visitors were welcomed to Bewl with a view of a becalmed lake. By the start of the first race a light North East force 2-3 breeze came in, the race office made the decision to do all four races back to back.

Visitors, Howard Farbrother & Louise Hosken lead the first race from start to finish with visitors Sam Parker & Stu Jagger chasing. Local boys Adam (the Cat) Page & Tom Salvio took 3rd place on the run to the finish off Nick Simmons & Jill Shorrocks.

Last year’s overall winner David Griffiths & Paul Adams took an early and commanding lead in race 2 as the rest of the fleet were fighting with each other to get round the 1st mark. The heavy weights of David & Paul were unable to maintain they lead down the first run. Race 2 finish Howard & Louise claiming their second win. Henry Maples & Anna Ludgate came up from 8th in race one to 2nd in race two with Sam & Stu taking 3rd.

Race three saw Howard & Louise claim their third win and with it the title of “Bewl Vallay Sailing Club RS400 Open Meeting 2008 Champions”. Sam & Stu finished 2nd and Nick and Jill 3rd.

In race four, Sam & Stu came in first to claim second place overall in front of Henry & Anna.

A great day was had by all with thanks to the Race Officer Richard Kingsnorth and his team from the Flying Fifteen fleet.
