Topper Open at Nantwich & Border Counties Sailing Club

Visitors from 12 clubs arrived for the Topper Open Meeting at Nantwich & Border Counties S.C. on Saturday 26th April 2008. A total of 26 boats (22 visitors) rigged up anticipating a bright day with a steady SSW 15mph breeze which proved an accurate forecast.
Race 1 saw Elliot Hanson (Redesmere), 2007 area champion, soon establish himself as leader of the pack. He was followed home by Andrew Dawson (Winsford) and Harriot Morris (Elton).
The same leading bunch of 8 boats again broke away in race two. Hanson and Dawson were again 1st & 2nd respectively. Behind them positions changed with Joe Hanson (Redesmere) 3rd in front of Morris.
With Elliot retiring from race 3 Dawson took the final gun. Sam Watson (Nantwich), with a 6th & 5th places previously, sailed well into 2nd position and Thereby took third overall.
All starts were clean with the youngsters showing good holding skills and line discipline. PRO Rob Richards noted the politeness of all competitors in acknowledging the finish gun.
Imogen Hanson(Redesmere) sailing a 4.2m rig and Toby Woodings (Carsington) received Endeavour prizes. First Under 14 boat was James Asquith (Redesmere)
