The new Mk3 Mirror, designed by Phil Morrison and made by Winder Boats
The New Mk3 Mirror is generating much interest and is already proving very popular. For those yet to see one in the flesh there is the chance to see Dave Winder's own boat at the Earls Court Boat Show this week.
For those not familiar with the Mk3, the ubiquitous Mirror has just received a makeover. With over 70,000 boats produced the Mirror is the world’s most popular double hander dinghy, and has probably been responsible for introducing more people to sailing than any other class. The makeover by top designer Phil Morrison is sure to keep Mirrors at the forefront of entry-level sailing.
The Mk3 Mirror features a new modern interior, which has been designed to be easily moulded and durable. The first Mk3s produced by top UK dinghy builders, Winder Boats, are finished in epoxy for greater longevity, which combined with foam reinforcement gives an immensely strong hull.
For those who still hanker for a timber boat, wood Mirrors are still being built, either professionally or by home builders, with Duffin offering kits from £795. Mirrors are very versatile boats, proving very popular for cruising and racing, the Trident Cruising Mirror at £2995 ready to sail has found many friends.
