Cruiser Racer Winter Series at Antrim Boat Club

by Betty Armstrong 20 Mar 2001 19:06 GMT

Considering how many races other clubs have had cancelled this winter due to bad weather, the Stables Restaurant series at Antrim was lucky. They lost only one, probably due to the fact that Lough Neagh is more sheltered in the many north easterlies blowing across the province of late.

So nine of the ten races were completed with Charlie McAllister and Peter Bell in the Puppeteer 'Jelly Roll' taking first over all ahead of Simon and Sinead Hutchinson in another Puppeteer, 'Yellow Peril'.

The event was sailed in two sections, before and after Christmas, a total of 20 outings in all, with only one abandoned. First half winners were Peter Frazer and Willie McAteer in the Mischief 24, 'Underdog', with 'Jelly Roll' at third behind Liam Donnelly and Keith Ankatel's Hunter Delta, 'Sapphire'.

After Christmas McAllister counted four firsts to take that section ahead of the Hutchinsons, giving 'Jelly Roll' overall first slot, with 'Underdog' in runner-up position and 'Yellow Peril' in third.

Overall Results:

1stJelly RollC. McAllister and P Bell
2ndUnderdogP. Frazer and W.McAteer
3rdYellow PerilS and S Hutchinson
