Notts County Sailing Club First of the Year Race 2026 Preview

Notts County Sailing Club has an annual First of the Year race, a well known tradition going back decades.

The race day started at Stoke Bardolf, the clubs original home and has been held ever since for at least 60 years, nearly 40 of which are at the clubs present home at Hoveringham.

The racing starts at 1130, to allow any hangovers to settle and consists of two back to back races (see the Notice of Race for details). All entry fees go to charity, plus any other donations spectators wish to make. This year the Commodore has chosen a local charity the Children's Bereavement Centre (Newark), visit www.childrensbereavementcentre.co.uk for more information.

A well-oiled machine ran three epic races A lovely sunny warm day greeted the 23 ILCA sailors on Saturday the 4th July 2026. The wind forecast was the same as it has been recently which left a few sailors sitting at home thinking it was too windy and a few sailors changing down to smaller rigs. Posted on 6 Jul

Hansa TT at Notts County
An excellent entry of 25 boats The Hansa TT (Travellers Trophy) saw an excellent entry of 25 boats with entrants from clubs as far afield as Bray SC Ireland, along with a good contingent from Frensham Ponds, and entries from Whitefriars, Rutland, Newhaven, Chesil, Carsington. Posted on 7 May

Midlands Winter Series event sees over 20 dinghies and 10 windsurfers The 2026 Notts County Sailing Club County Cooler had a good entry with over twenty dinghies and ten windsurfers. It was cool but not freezing and there was a light to moderate wind, and that rare commodity on Saturday of sunshine (most of the time). Posted on 28 Jan

Notts County SC First of Year Race 2026
In aid of the Children's Bereavement Centre (Newark) The Notts County Sailing Club's annual First of the Year Race on 1st January 2026 had a good turnout of 32 dinghies 4 windsurfers in aid of Children's Bereavement Centre around £400 raised from entry fees and donations, thanks to all who contributed. RS Aero UK Women's Championship at Notts County
A day of training and games, followed by racing on Sunday The much-anticipated 2025 RS Aero UK Women's Championships were held on the weekend of the 26/27th September at Notts County Sailing Club.
