by Petru Balau 31 Aug 15:46 BST 23-30 August 2025

Nicholas Plank, Slingshot, wins the 2025 edition of the Town Cup, part of Burnham Week 2025, in perfect sailing conditions.

The 2025 edition of Trophy Day, the last day of Burnham Week 2025, saw 8 boats compete for the highly coveted Town Cup, with Slingshot eventually taking the win, even being second on the water only to Warrior, helmed by Simon Farren.

Whilst the Dinghy Town Cup, with 9 boats competing, saw the cheerful fleet head up the river, with the eventual winner being Darren Sewell, sailing on a DART 15 / SPRINT 15.

For the Commodores Cup and Penrose Fitzgerald Trophy, class 5, the five cruisers were joined by two Royal Corinthian Yacht Club 707's, with the 707 with hull number 3, helmed by Carl Anderson, taking the win.

The class 6 race, for the Roach Trophy, was won by Richard Moore, Ophelia, ahead of Phillip Harbott's Mantra and Katie Reilly's Thistle 1V.

The Final Saturday for the International Dragon was won by Avalanche, Mark Wade with Ian Gray's Still Crazy having to snatch second place from David Warner's Dublin Bay.

The East Coast One Design race was won by David Smith's Wizard, which also won the trophy for the best results overall, as they kept winning left and right.

Stephen Herring on Red Jacket won the Final Saturday for the Royal Burnham One Design class, ahead of Ciara Murphy's Quartz, the latter being the youngest keelboat helm at this edition of Burnham Week.

Coryphee, helmed by Paul Buckley, won the Royal Corinthian One Design race, ahead of Martin Makey's Corinna.

Bill Blank's Blind Squirrel won the RS Elites Trophy Day race, along with a host of other trophies for performances during the Bank Holiday Weekend.

And last but not least, the Squibs race was won by Micky Wright and Alex Porteous, along with Squibs Burnham Week overall.

While Burnham Week proper ended with the traditional spectacular firework display, the four Crouch based clubs, Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, Royal Burnham Yacht Club, Burnham Sailing Club and Creeksea Sailing Club are to compete for the St Mathew Cup, an interclub team race, on Sunday, with BSC hosting the race this year.

Burnham Week dates next year for your diary - Saturday 29th August - Saturday 5th September 2026.
