ILCA Senior European Championship 2025 in Marstrand, Sweden - Overall

by Agustín Argüelles, EurILCA 17 Aug 15:21 BST 9-16 August 2025

The 2025 ILCA Senior European Championships & Open European Trophy came to a close today in spectacular fashion, as the new European champions were crowned across all three fleets. A sunny sky and classic Marstrand conditions — with the wind building from 8 knots in the morning to 15 knots in the afternoon, and the swell rising from 0.5 to 1.5 metres — provided a fitting backdrop for the final battles on the water.

Both racecourses delivered challenging but fair racing, rewarding consistency and composure under pressure. With the medals on the line, the atmosphere was tense but electric, and the fleets rose to the occasion.

After a week that saw everything from light and unstable winds to full-on heavy weather, today's conditions struck the perfect balance, allowing the championship to conclude on schedule and in style. Sailors returned ashore to celebrations with teammates, coaches, and supporters, as the final results confirmed the 2025 European champions in the ILCA 6 Women, ILCA 6 Women Under 23, ILCA 6 Men, ILCA 6 Men Under 21, ILCA 7 and ILCA 7 Under 23 fleets.

The closing ceremony in Marstrand honoured not only the medalists but also the efforts of the entire international fleet, the race committee, volunteers, and the hosting club GKSS, whose hospitality shaped a memorable week of competition.

With the prize-giving complete, the 2025 ILCA Senior European Championships & Open European Trophy is officially closed. Warm thanks go to all the sailors, coaches, organisers, volunteers, sponsors, and local authorities whose support and dedication made this championship a resounding success.

The event was organised by The Royal Gothenburg Yacht Club (GKSS) and EurILCA; with sponsorship from PelleP, Marstrands Havshotell, Stena Line, and Ackert.
