29er Eurocup Finals at Fraglia Vela Riva - Overall

by 29er Class Association 27 Oct 2024 20:20 GMT 24-29 October 2024

The 29er Eurocup Finals concluded in spectacular fashion on Sunday, with an impressive final day of racing organized by Fraglia Vela Riva, marking the last event of the international 29er circuit. Strong Peler and Ora winds enabled Race Committee Presidents Giancarlo Crevatin and Valentina Bravi to oversee a full series, culminating in thirteen races and two discards for the Gold Fleet.

The final races reshuffled the leaderboard, propelling Italy's Giuseppe Montesano and Enrico Coslovich (1-5-3-17 today) to overall victory. Their top-five finishes, along with the discard of a challenging 33rd place from the second race, earned them the top spot and the title of best Under 17 team.

Representing Circolo della Vela Muggia and Club Nautico Triestino Sirena, the Italian duo edged out Polish team Antonina Puchowska and Mateusz Gasiorewski (6-10-4-14) by just two points. After leading for much of the series, the Polish team took second place and claimed the Mixed crew victory.

Completing the podium were Swiss sailors Ikke Huber and Liam Berger (10-3-10-4), narrowly beating Danish team Nicklas Holt and Carl Emil Sloth (3-7-6-13), who finished just one point behind. The German brothers Lucas and Moritz Hamm (2-9-14-34) rounded out the top five.

Victoria Papin and Jouan Tsippora took top honors among female teams, finishing in 17th overall. Meanwhile, Hungarian duo Soma Kis-Szölgyémi and András Sámuel Juhász, despite some setbacks today (4-14-15-26), finished sixth and celebrated their season victory in the Eurocup circuit rankings, which includes over 250 teams across 13 events.

The overall Eurocup podium saw the Hamm brothers as the best Under 17 team in second, while Swiss pair Huber and Berger claimed third. Victoria Demurtas and Caroline Karlsen of Fraglia Vela Riva finished sixth overall, establishing themselves as the top female crew, followed by Hungarian sisters Boroka and Szonja Feher in twelfth.

In the Under 17 women's category, Swiss duo Malena Ruegge and Lu Wicki achieved 17th place overall. The Swedish team Hard-Wolfgang took first among the Mixed teams.
