The Craftinsure Lark Class Spring Championships took place at the South Staffordshire Sailing Club on Saturday, 13th April. With 19 boats competing, it was a thrilling weekend of competitive sailing on the Staffordshire waters.

Overall Winners: Stuart and Nick Hydon clinched victory in a tight finish, winning on countback. They narrowly edged out the current national champions, Ed Bradburn and Holly Evans, who finished second overall with equal points.

Third Place: Chris and Nic White secured third place in the overall standings, showcasing their skill by winning race 2.

Endeavour Prize: Andrew and Toby Ward deserve special recognition for their unwavering commitment. Despite finishing in last position, they completed all the races—a true testament to their sportsmanship.

Youth Award: Ffion Hawley, a rising star, sailed brilliantly despite challenging conditions. Her determination paid off, and she took home the youth award. Notably, she even sustained a blow to the head from the boom but soldiered on.

The camaraderie among sailors extended well into the night. An evening curry social and camping allowed everyone to unwind and share stories of their day on the water.

The excitement spilled over to Sunday, where eight boats participated in club racing. The competitive spirit remained high as sailors continued to battle it out.

A big thank you to our event sponsor, Craftinsure, for their generous support. And we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of the event.

Congratulations to all the sailors, and we look forward to more thrilling events at South Staffs Sailing Club! For more information about South Staffordshire Sailing Club visit our website.

Next event in the Craftinsure Lark Travellers Series is the majestic trip to Rock over the May Day Bank Holiday Weekend. Not one to be missed. More information can be found here.
