The latest fishing news from Crocodile Bay

Fishing at Crocodile Bay © Crocodile Bay

Hello from the beautiful Osa Peninsula... here's the latest news on our February fishing at Crocodile Bay, Costa Rica.

February is the official start of the sailfish season at Crocodile Bay, and it got off to a great start. Sailfish are one of the fastest swimmers in the ocean reaching speeds of up to 85mph and can travel long distances in one day. These fish are incredibly acrobatic and can put on a great show jumping and flipping in the air when caught. Watching them swim into our spread is always an adrenaline rush.

Our anglers had the opportunity to hook up and land multiple sailfish this past month, using dead rigged balihoo, live baits and artificial lures. If you want to hook your own sailfish - right now is the time! With the guidance of our experienced crews, it will be very easy for you to catch your dream sailfish.

The inshore bite at Crocodile Bay has been on fire for cubera snappers lately. Our anglers were able to catch and release some huge cubera snappers ranging between 20 and 60 lbs! These fish are the kings of the reefs and the amount of strength they have to take your line and lure in the rocks is incredible. Be ready for a rod bending/reel screaming fight!

Blue marlin (or as we like to call her the lady in the blue) were caught in good numbers last month. However, the highlight of February must be the wahoo bite. Wahoo are one of the unicorns of our waters. It is not very common to see wahoo in this area but in this last month we have seen amazing wahoo action with fish ranging between 40 and 65 lbs. The most rewarding moment is sitting at the dinner table enjoying fresh wahoo prepared in different delicious ways by our amazing chefs. Boat to table dining at its best!

We had the honor to welcome yet another annual CVO fishing tournament in February hosted by Brooks Lunsford. 32 anglers came down to fish in a 2-day tournament. It is always nice to welcome this amazing group as most of them have become very close friends after so many years of putting together this annual event for them. We can host your group too.

We also welcomed our longtime friend and host of BigWater Adventures Mark Davis to Crocodile Bay once again. He was filming another episode of his incredible TV show. If you are not familiar with BigWater Adventures, I strongly suggest you check it out on Outdoor Channel or stream it on MOTV. This is not your typical fishing show because my friend Mark can give recommendations and very useful insights of how to be successful in any type of fishing situation.
