Why
A high over Tasmania extends a ridge along the NSW coast while a trough deepens in the west. During the weekend the high moves into the Tasman Sea with winds trending northeasterly from Sunday.
Where
On Sunday on the entire coast there will be seas of 1 metre and mixed southerly and easterly swells of 1.5 to 2.5 metre. On Monday on the Byron coast down as far as Hunter, seas will be 1 metres and mixed southerly/south easterly/easterly swells will be 1.5 to 2.5 metres.
BOM is warning that on Sunday conditions on the entire coast will be hazardous for crossing bars by boat and rock fishing, and same on Monday for Byron to Hunter coasts.
Swell period
Swell period on most coasts will be about 14 seconds. But it will be brutally short on Sunday, on the northern coasts swell period will be as low as 8 seconds, and on Eden coast on Monday will be even lower, around 6 seconds.
Coming soon
The next trough and southerly change can be expected to move northward across the coastal waters during the middle of next week.
