J/Teams win Stratford Shoal Race overall

by J/Boats 9 Jul 2023 12:53 BST

The 92nd edition of Riverside Yacht Club's annual Stratford Shoal Race is a popular mid-summer event on western Long Island Sound.

At 28.1nm, it's an easy, quick race run on a Saturday, starting off Greenwich, CT, then heading east around the Stratford Shoal bell buoy and back. This year's edition saw several J/Teams walk off away from the awards on Saturday evening with an armload of silverware.

In PHRF 1 Division, Steven Levy's J/121 EAGLE took home the silver, while Pito Chicering's J/111 THE ROOST finished fourth place.

In PHRF 2 Division, Richard West's J/120 CHARLOTTE won, followed by Steve Chronert's J/109 ZUMA in second, and Eric & Maggie Deichmann's J/112E MISCHIEF in fifth place.

The large PHRF 3 Division saw Randy Bourne's J/105 STRANGE BREW end up in fourth place.

Then, in PHRF Doublehanded Division, Todd Aven's J/99 THIN MAN took the silver, followed by Kevin Kelley's J/122 SUMMER GRACE earning the bronze medal!

PHRF overall
Winning the race PHRF Overall was West's J/120 CHARLOTTE, with Chronert's J/109 ZUMA taking second, Levy's J/121 EAGLE fifth, and Deichmann's J/112E MISCHIEF ended up eighth
