Wednesday's racing sponsored by Batt Sails threw up a few surprises despite the relatively steady 10-14 knot south-westerly winds in Weymouth Bay. Jono Browne in 'Two Counts', who is leading the series, failed to win either of the day's two races.

In the first race, it took two attempts to start the race. Mickey Wright and Alex Porteous in 'Spoof' managed to pull out a 100m lead which they held throughout the three laps of the windward-leeward race which lasted almost two hours. Although a regular competitor, and often in the top 15, They had never previously won a championship race.

In the second race no.63 'Maverick' sailed by Dan Henderson And Mark Moncrief started near the pin mark, headed out to sea and as they came back towards the windward mark picked up a fifteen degree lift which few other boats found. That was enough to put them in the lead, which they held for an hour and a half as the fleet sailed three beats and three runs.

The overall championship order has changed, with serial championship winner 'Ric-O-Shea' taking second place to 'Two Counts' and 'Spoof' in third place.
