After three events and 11 races completed, the Seldén SailJuice Winter Series rankings are taking shape. With three different event winners representing a diverse range of classes (505, Merlin and Enterprise), this Series is proving very close.

The Seldén SailJuice Winter Series is at the halfway point with the next event being the King George Gallop in North London on 22 January. Series organisers Andy Rice and Simon Lovesey are set to host a Facebook Live update this Sunday (9th January - 17:00). More details at www.facebook.com/SeldenSailJuiceWinterSeries

Update

Winners of the last round, the Burghfield Breezer, Nigel and Andy Bird (Enterprise) jump two places to take the overall lead. Last year's runner-up, Luke Fisher (RS Vareo - Emberton Park SC) hangs onto second place for the second event in a row, with Ben Flower (Laser (ILCA 7) - Paignton SC) third.

Trident Top Club

Hosts of the Burghfield Breezer, Burghfield SC were Top Club at their home event and move up three places to third overall in the Trident Top Club rankings. The overall winner at the end of the Series will win a Trident Voucher to spend on kit for their club. After three rounds, Draycote Water SC have managed to hold on to top spot, closely followed by previous winners Lymington Town SC.

RestartSailing Top Class

Based on the best three results for each class, across every race. Previous winners, the Laser (ILCA 7) class jump one place to take top spot, with the RS Aero 7s, who have regularly been on the podium, also jumping up one place to second overall, and the RS400s third.

CraftInsure Family Rankings

It is great to see a growing number of teams competing for the CraftInsure Family Rankings, either sailing in the same boat together or across different boats. At Burghfield, Mr and Mrs Bird (Enterprise), headed the rankings from Mr and Mrs Cockerill (RS400) and Roger and James Blake (Osprey), third. Overall at this stage and vying for the top prize of Craftinsure Insurance, the Birds lead from the Blakes, with Chris and Abigail Larr (RS400), third.

Class results

Many classes use the Seldén SailJuice Winter Series as a key part of their winter racing calendar, with nine classes (from 64) currently fielding 10 or more boats. The RS Aero 7 classes currently has the most entries and were the joint largest fleet at Burghfield with the Solos. At Burghfield, Sam Whaley was the top RS Aero 7, with Peter Barton leading the class series rankings, closely followed by Ellie Craig and Steve Norbury who have both had their moments of glory.

Youth

Christopher Marsh (Laser Radial - ILCA 6) was top youth at Burghfield, with young Freddie Sunderland (Laser 4.7 - ILCA 4), second. Overall, Maddie Childs Laser Radial (ILCA 6), leads from Freddie Sunderland.

This age category is proving very competitive, Sam Whaley (RS Aero 7) was top at Burghfield, with series regular Ben Flower (Laser ILCA 7) leading overall from Ellie Craig (RS Aero 7).

This sector forms the largest group and nearly half the entry at Burghfield, where Tom Gillard and Rachael Gray (Merlin) dominated. Overall Roger Gilbert and Ben McGrane (505) top the leaderboard, based on extracted results across every race.

Masters

Nigel and Andy Bird won the Burghfield Breezer, and not surprisingly are leaders in the Masters category.

Boat type rankings

With entries from 64 different classes, ranging from Toppers to F18 cats, the Seldén SailJuice Winter Series reflects the great diversity of the UK small boat racing scene. With the Great British Sailing Challenge boat type rankings, we can group similar boats together.

GBSC Fast Asymmetric

The RS400 dominated this category at Burghfield with Steve and Sarah Cockerill leading the group. Overall, Jon Heissig and Nicky Griffin (RS400 Llangorse SC) head the rankings from Chris and Abigail Larr (RS400 - Draycote Water SC), with Jonthan Carter (Vortex - Rickmansworth SC), third.

GBSC Slow Asymmetric

Luke Fisher (RS Vareo) continues to dominate this group, leading at Burghfield and overall, keeping at bay a strong RS200 contingent.

GBSC Slow Symmetric

At Burghfield the slow symmetric classes (spinnaker and non-spinnakers) made up the largest group at Burghfield, representing nearly half the entry. Nigel and Andy Bird (Enterprise) won the group at Burghfield and lead overall, from the RS Aeros 7s of Pete Barton and Ellie Craig.
