West Country Boat Repairs have joined forces with Noble Marine to sponsor the 25th anniversary RS200 Nationals.

The Noble Marine West Country Boat Repairs RS200 National Championships will be hosted by Exe SC from 15th-19th August 2021 and is expected to attract the usual huge following associated with the UK's leading double-handed sailing dinghy.

West Country Boat Repairs' Pete Vincent has been associated with the RS200 class since its launch in 1996 and incredibly has sailed in 20 RS200 National Championships!

Pete said "In the 1990s and early 2000s I was a dealer for RS Sailing - it was clear from the early days that the RS200 and its stable mates were going to revolutionise the UK dinghy sailing scene. I love everything about the class - the incredibly tight racing throughout the fleet, the comraderie in the dinghy park and of course the awesome social scene."

West Country Boat Repairs are specialist dinghy repairers, with particular expertise in GRP repairs to the RS classes, and an approved repair centre for Noble Marine, having worked with them for many years. They cover the whole of the South West corner of Britain and have many customers much further afield in the UK and abroad.

Pete, aka Ugly, is of course known not only for his impressive sailing results over such a long period, but also for his ability to fully embrace the social experience, so it makes perfect sense that is sponsorship will be used to host the Ugly Party at the 2021 Nationals.

Pete grew up close to Exe SC, where he was a member and learnt to sail in Mirrors. Fast forward a few decades and he remembers "a few days at Exe SC one September, testing a mainly wooden RS200 prototype, designed by Phil Morrison of Exe SC; launching the spinnaker from a bucket in the boat and learning pretty quickly that a skeg needed to be added!"

Class secretary Sally Campbell said "We are delighted to announce this sponsorship agreement - it makes perfect sense for our 25th anniversary Nationals, at the spiritual home of the RS200 to be sponsored by one of original sailors, owner of such a renowned repair business, closely allied with our other valued title sponsor Noble Marine."
