Raritan Icerette overcomes environmental extremes

by Martin Flory Group 13 Feb 2018 19:30 GMT

On board ice makers face environmental extremes that make consistent performance a challenge. Raritan Engineering's Icerette Model 87 overcomes heat, high humidity, full sun and salt spray, making 21 lbs. of ice a day, with a sleek, modern style that fits any boat décor.

The cabinet, door and hardware of the Icerette are stainless steel for corrosion resistance and exceptional appearance. Unlike competing brands that rely on aluminum condensers which can corrode in a marine environment, Raritan's is long-lasting copper. Its Embarko compressor is so reliable, it comes with a five-year limited warranty. A unique partition ensures there's no recirculation of hot air within the unit, and the evaporator is enclosed for easy and thorough cleaning.

The door of the Icerette features a positive latch and a magnetic gasket. This allows the door to remain tightly closed while underway or locked open to prevent odors and mildew when not in use.

Using the Icerette is simple. Both the ice making cycle and temperature are controlled via an easy-to-use thermostat. It makes 13mm W x 19mm H x 64mm L crescent-shaped cubes.

Icerette is available in a built-in/freestanding or flush mount configuration. Ventilation is from the front, so additional side clearance isn't necessary, nor is a drain, making installation inexpensive and straight-forward with only a 6.4mm OD water line needed. Rubber leveling feet allow for exacting tolerances. No additional hinge clearance is needed for door swing. A flange is included for recessed mounting. It measures 356mm W x 646mm H x 420mm D and weighs 51 lbs.

Raritan's Icerette Model 87 is available in 115/230V versions. All units are CE certified, while the 115V model is UL and cUL listed.
