With eight races completed the annual Icicle event is halfway, eight more races to came over the next four weekends climaxing with prize giving on 25th February. This year entries in the two handicap classes is 86, seventy in the conventional class and 16 in the Asymmetric class.

The weather has given the event a good mixture, strong winds on the opening day followed by two days of calm and a warm moderate breeze for the last in January.

At this stage the leaders in the conventional class,Guy Marks & Sam Pygall in a wayfarer, look hard to beat with 5 first places. In the asymmetric class the competition is a lot closer the event being led by Mick & Sarah Whitmore in their RS400 but only 5 points separate the first four boats. The usual high standard of race management has been maintained by the club and the support and rescue teams, on the opening day 4 RIBs in action, have ensured a high level of attention to safety and course laying.
