Sailing Southwest will be marking the occasion of their first birthday at the RYA Dinghy Show at Alexandra Palace, over the weekend of 3-4 March, with a special event that will feature a guest from the British Sailing Team.

Sailing Southwest (SSW) has had a remarkable first year, making significant progress in achieving their objective of bringing regional sailing closer together.

The SSW website has become an invaluable resource for thousands of people around the region, and the new SSW Winter Series has also proven to be a huge success, offering the opportunity for over 100 competitors to compete locally at some fantastic venues throughout the winter season.

Perhaps, Sailing Southwest's greatest achievement however will come in the form of TracAce, their newly developed, low-cost live GPS boat tracking System. Jonathan Miles, a SSW Director commented: "TracAce is specifically designed to improve the safety and enhance the quality of sailing and racing at all levels, and there is much anticipation surrounding the system's full commercial launch later in 2018."

With so much achieved in such a short time, and even more for this small family company to look forward to, it is only fitting that SSW get a proper 1st birthday celebration. Head to the Sailing Southwest stand (E18, West Hall) at 2pm on Sunday 04 March, where the team will be joined by a member of the British Sailing Team to celebrate all things sailing. "Everyone is welcome to join us," Jonathan says, "and perhaps grab a slice of birthday cake too!"
