At this year's London Boat Show, on 10 January, Musto launched their 'Junior Riders' programme to celebrate their partnerships with the British Sailing Team and British Youth Sailing, and further highlight Britain's excellent pathway from grassroots to podium. Three lucky young sailors will win a mentoring experience like no other with a British Sailing Team sailor, along with a £500 Musto voucher.
Newly appointed Racing Director at the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), Volvo Ocean Race Winner and long-serving Musto ambassador, Ian Walker MBE, said: "This is an excellent opportunity for young sailors to be recognised for their hard work, and to benefit from the mentorship of the sailors they aspire to be."
The competition will officially go live on 10 January, where Musto will be calling upon coaches from British Youth Sailing to nominate a selection of the young sailors across all UK squads that they feel meet the criteria.
To be selected as a potential candidate, Musto is looking for a sailor who epitomises the British Youth Sailing's core values and who will benefit most from this unique opportunity. Sailors who are passionately ambitious, act on their curiosity, show clear courage and determination, take ownership of themselves and display a high level of respect and integrity, both on shore and in the water, will receive the most consideration.
A panel of representatives from Musto and the RYA will select three winners across the British Youth Sailing squads, who will collect a £500 Musto voucher. This will enable young sailors to purchase the newest technical garments alongside a bespoke mentoring experience with a British Sailing Team sailor at a UK training camp.
The winners will be announced at the RYA Dinghy Show in March, where they will attend as special guests.
'Musto is extremely proud to be the official supplier of apparel, luggage, accessories and footwear to the British Sailing Team and Official Clothing Supplier to British Youth Sailing: championing talent on the water across the United Kingdom.
