Greetings
As regular readers may have noticed, Sail-World has upgraded to a new platform in the last few days.
This will put all 14 Sail-World sites worldwide on a similar platform to yachtsandyachting.com
Update:
We are pleased to report that the upgrade appears to have gone very well indeed. There are several new features and more to come. We don't have a form to submit regatta reports etc as in the previous version so please submit these and images (minimum side 800px preferably 1600px)> We can run portrait or landscape orientated images now, along with video and plenty of images etc. When the report is posted on Sail-World, you will get an automated message (customised by the Editor) with the URL of your story and when it was posted. You can then run this in your Facebook page or other media and have a very smart report for your members/sailors/fans. We are also categorising by Club and Class.
Please send your reports to sailworldnzl@gmail.com if there are any issues please txt or call on 021 301030 (NZ) or +6421301030 (International)
An example of the new format and functionality can be seen here
Previous report:
The Y&YOnline team have converted the existing S-W content over to the new system, but we are still working through some issues as the new system beds in.
Readers of Sail-World will notice that there are some changes in the format - which are quite deliberate and will allow editors more flexibility in layout. There are a number of new features which the YachtsandYachting.com team have used successfully for years to make the site the predominant sailing website in UK.
The immediate benefit is that the speed of Sail-World.com should have increased considerably - and stories should all open within a few seconds.
We have decided to cut-over to the new platform ahead of it being fully functional. One that will not be ready for a couple of weeks or so is the newsletter, and our apologies to our subscribers for its temporary absence.
For the various Sail-World editors it will take a little while to become fully conversant with the new platform functionality having been used to the old system for, in my case, 12 years.
Thanks for your support of Sail-World over the years, please bear with us over the next few weeks as we come up to full functionality.
Seasons greetings to your and your family and friends.
Good sailing
