Barwell and Johnson win the Merlin duel
A steady 11 knot breeze greeted the competitors in the LTSC winter series race 4. Class one faced a windward leeward course with a gate down wind to focus the complacent.
The Tri 18 of Toby and John left the fast fleet standing and completed three laps. One more than the others. Richard Keeton crossed after Declan Clamp who took time out to discuss racing with team Boomerang.
Class two saw a keenly contested start line. Keith Willis was recalled for a premature departure, whilst the rest got away.
The Tasar got clear by the 1st mark followed by the Merlin Rockets and the RS Aeros. The Merlins locked in their own three way duel changed leaders throughout the race. However the Tasar held them off to win overall. Mark Barwell & Louise Johnson who won the Merlin dual in their new boat 'Strung Along', with Nick Simmons & Fiona Mayo just ten seconds behind who themsleves were followed, just ninety five seconds later by Stuart & Caroline Watson.
