The Royal Torbay Yacht Club is pleased to announce that they will once again be hosting the Landsail Tyres J-Cup from August 17th to 19nd 2017 immediately prior to the Torbay Royal Regatta.

It will be the 17th edition of this prestigious event and the 2nd time the J-Cup has been hosted in Torbay. The J-Cup regularly attracts entries in excess of 65 boats and high turnout is expected, with one design sailing guaranteed for almost everybody.

J sailors traditionally love the West Country and the class have already had a lot of great feedback following the announcement of the venue. Initial interest has been strong and J Boats agent Key Yachting have received 9 emails confirming provisional entries from those who are intending to make the trip, including one Belgian J/111 who is also entering the Fastnet Race.

The J-Cup in Torquay will be sailed in some of the finest sailing waters in Europe against the back drop of the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark. The 500+ competitors can be assured of a very warm welcome to the English Riviera with its wide range of accommodation, many attractions, restaurants, bars and night life.

The Royal Torbay Yacht Club have a wealth of experience in staging major Yacht and Dinghy Championships dating back to the 1948 Olympic sailing events and earlier. The club will be pulling out all the stops to ensure the success of the J-Cup. It immediately precedes the Torbay Royal Regatta and it is hoped that many J-Boats will stay in Torquay to enjoy a further four days of competitive racing (Aug 19th to 22nd).

Landsail Tyres will be title sponsor again, enabling the booking of the awesome Joey The Lips for the final prizegiving night at the English Riviera Centre! A number of National Championships are likely to be sailed as part of the regatta.

Gemma Dunn from Key Yachting said, "There is a real buzz about taking the J-Cup to Torbay, and we know the club will do a great job. The J-Cup is the second event in an appealing West Country series next August, the others being Fastnet, Torbay and Dartmouth regattas. Get your entry in early to secure your boat its own class."
