Entry is now open for SMELT 2017, taking place in Carnac between 27th and 30th May next year. Open to Scorpions, Merlins, Enterprises, Larks and Twelves it's an event with a difference.

Of course every event preview offers the same unique mix of fantastic racing and excessive socials all set in the perfect location so to mix it up a bit I'll just let you ask anyone who went in 2014 what it was like and skip on to the next part... breaking world records!

World records

Guinness have approved an application for us to attempt to break the world record for the biggest human knot. For those not sure what this is have a look on youtube, the current record is 53 so it won't be easy but it has to be worth a try! This will be open to both competitors and shore party and will take place in the dinghy park one evening after sailing weather permitting. Time to start practising...

Ferry and camping discounts

There's also the chance to win your entry fee, everyone who has paid their £20 deposit by 1st November will go in a draw to have the rest of their entry fee paid for. Plus, the event is sponsored by Brittany Ferries and Les Menhirs campsite so both getting there and staying there is cheaper too.

What next

The NOR and other useful info is on the website – www.smelt.info - along with the entry form. Unknown details can be left TBC or changed later so if you're coming it only takes 2 minutes to fill in and you might as well click here and do it now.
