Itchenor Sailing Club is once again opening its doors to the public on Sunday 22nd May 2016 for its annual Open Day, as part of the Royal Yachting Association's Push The Boat Out.

Push The Boat Out is an initiative that runs from 14th-22nd May and sees hundreds of sailing clubs nationwide host open days and invite local communities to experience sailing. Itchenor is one of the many sailing clubs taking part to offer those interested an opportunity to learn more about the different sailing classes available, training courses and membership benefits as well as the chance to experience being out on the water at Chichester Harbour.

The club's expert sailors will be offering 'Learn to sail' taster sessions in a variety of dinghies including Mirrors, Toppers and the Laser Vision. There will also be top class club racing on the day in the following classes; XOD, Swallow, Sunbeam, Mirror, Topper, International 14, RS200, and Laser. Visitors will be able to go afloat in one of the many spectator boats and experience the thrill of racing up-close.

If the activity on the water doesn't appeal, then visitors can also make use of the beautiful Clubhouse and waterfront lawn to enjoy lunch and refreshments throughout the day. There will be members and staff on hand to chat through the various membership options at Itchenor including family, junior and social memberships.

Charles Hyatt, Commodore at Itchenor Sailing Club, comments: "We are excited to once again be part of the RYA's Push The Boat Out event and look forward to welcoming local residents to our sailing club. It's a great opportunity to have a taster session on the water and discover what else we have to offer our members."

The event starts at 9.30am on Sunday 22nd May and is free entry.

If you wish to sail, please pre-register now to reserve your place so that the club can allocate enough boats and members. Call the office on 01243 512400 or complete a form at www.itchenorsc.co.uk
