The next 12 months are exciting times for the International Flying Fifteen class with a great fixture list of regattas (see www.flying15.org.uk/Fixtures-and-Results/Fixture-List) which include 'majors' at first class venues.

The class, which celebrates 70 years in 2017 has progressed nicely, looks beautiful and is still renowned for incredibly close racing whether it be light and shifty or over 25 knots. It remains one of the most popular 2 man keel boats in the world with champions coming from a wide range of all up crew weights (and ages) with two of the last 4 different world champions being husband and wife teams.

Forthcoming majors:

  • The UK Nationals are at Hayling Island Sailing club from Thursday 30th June through to Sunday 1st July.

Good sponsorship deals are in place and HISC are pulling out all the stops to ensure this will be a great event both on and off the water.

  • The Championship of Ireland is hosted by the beautiful venue of Cushondell Sailing club in Co Antrim and runs from 22nd to 24th July.

  • The Europeans are at the highly regarded venue of Medemblik on the Ijsselmeer just north of Amsterdam and run from Sunday 29th August through to Friday 2nd September. It's the first time the Flying Fifteen class has visited this venue which is a chosen choice for many major sailing events including the Olympic classes circuit.

  • The Australian titles running from Dec 30th to Jan 5th, 2017 are at arguably the best sailing waters known to man - Esperance Bay in Western Australia. This is a must for every sailors bucket list!

  • The World Championships (including the NZ champs) from 20th Feb to the 3rd March, 2017 return to the beautiful city of Napier in New Zealand. Situated half way along the North Island on the pacific coast this venue will deliver a stunning sailing experience.

There is no better time to join this truly international class and experience wonderful camaraderie, exceptional racing and fantastic socials at some of the world's great sailing venues.
