Island Sailing Club Evening Race Series - Day 3

by Peter Dickson, Principal Race Officer 4 May 2016 11:12 BST 3 May 2016

53 boats came to the start on a sunny evening for race three of the Evening Race Series. The 20 knot WSW breeze died gradually but stayed just long enough to allow all boats to finish by 2018hrs.

All classes started to the West to best avoid the large number of shipping movements. But the Flying Fifteens were postponed by ten minutes to allow the Liz Rix tanker to leaving Cowes Harbour un hindered.

All boats tacked up the shore along Cowes Green before turning to the East onto the Ryde Middle Bank. Cruiser Classes had one round and day boat classes two rounds.

A number of boats failed to finish correctly passing outside the finish line, north of Snowden.
