Shoreham Sailing Club distance membership © Google Maps

Living outside a 35-mile radius from Shoreham? Then we have a new category of membership that gives you access to some of the best sea sailing, with the requirement to do just one on-the-water duty.

Shoreham Sailing Club is located on the south coast with an active racing programme supporting Laser, Merlin Rocket, Wayfarer, Phantom and fast and medium handicap fleets. We get real sea sailing but have sheltered launching just inside the harbour entrance – perfect! Starts are at 11am on Sundays with two races back-to-back out at sea (except when it is super windy, when we can race on the river). Races are normally about 1 hour long and raced on a triangle/sausage course.

If you want to bring the family with you then we have a great club house with table tennis, table football and the shopping and entertainment in Brighton is only a short train ride away for the rainy days, and we have a great lawn and easy access to swimming waters for when the sun is out.

The galley is open for bacon rolls before racing and offers a range of baguettes at lunch.

Distance membership criteria are:

  • Single adult membership for anyone living outside a 35 mile radius of the club (this goes to Hastings, Tonbridge, Epsom, Farnham and Portsmouth – see map)
  • Limit of 10 visits and the requirement for 1 on-the-water weekend duty (Not counted in the 10 visits)

Cost of the membership is;

  • £100 annual subscription,
  • £30 joining fee (where relevant),
  • Storage is available and these and harbour fees are charged as for all members.
