Entry for the Volvo Noble Marine RS800 National Championship 25 - 28 August at Hayling Island Sailing Club is open at www.rs800.org/championships/cindex.asp?clselect=Home&eid=1355
It's only the beginning of March and we have 14 entries already, including reigning National Champions (Tim Saxton and Fiona Hampshire), 2014 National Champions (Roger Phillips and Will Crocker), 2014 Grand Prix winners (James Hughes and Toby Wincer), 2015 Master Helm and Crew, three boats from France and four youngsters who fancy their chances with a shot at the title. This is shaping up to be one of the major dinghy sailing events of 2016 with some surprises planned both on and off the water and with many more champions, youth sailors and overseas competitors planning to be there.
The 2016 Magic Marine RS800 Grand Prix circuit is going to be a cracker, taking RS800 sailors across the UK on the sea and inland at Grafham Water Sailing Club 19-20 March, Stokes Bay Sailing Club 16-17 April, Hayling Island Sailing Club 28-29 May, Lymington Town Sailing Club 18-19 June, Eastbourne Sovereign Sailing Club 17-18 September, back to Grafham Water Sailing Club 8-9 October and finally Rutland Sailing Club 5-6 November. Four events out of seven will count towards the trophy.
2016 sees the launch of the brand new RS800 Eurocup Circuit. This opens with the French Skiff Open 26-27 March, Nieuwpoort Race Weekend 2-3 July, European Championships at Torbole on Lake Garda 25-29 July, UK Volvo Noble Marine Nationals at Hayling Island Sailing Club 25-28 August, and closes with the Dutch Open Medemblik 16-18 September. Three of the five events will need to be sailed to be eligible for the European Circuit.
