Events for all at Torpoint watersports club

Torpoint Mosquito Sailing Club is justifiably proud of its cadet section and its role in getting junior sailors afloat. The section is open to young people aged between 8 and 16 and offers weekly sessions on the water during the summer months. In the winter, there are monthly sessions ashore. As well as water confidence and sailing, cadets learn team building, gain skills like first aid, grow their self-assurance, mix with children of different ages and sailing abilities, and most of all have fun. Cadet coordinator Phillippa Smerdon said "We are currently recruiting young people for the 2016 intake of cadets so if your child would like to learn to sail in a safe and supportive environment, do get in touch. Parents or guardians of cadets have to be members of the club but it is easy to join and not expensive". Places are limited so if you are interested phone Phillippa on 07918 666339 as soon as possible.

The year looks set to be another exciting and busy one at Torpoint Mosquito Sailing Club with a packed programme ahead of events both on and off the water. The spring dinghy racing series has already started but it is not too late to join in. Weather permitting there are weekly gig rowing sessions and summer yacht and dinghy racing starts in April. The club also offers regular windsurfing and scuba diving sessions. Onshore there are a series of free winter talks - programme below, a lively St Patrick's Day celebration on 12 March from 8.30pm with a five-piece Irish folk band, Dr Thud's Remedy and a members' family fun day on Easter Sunday from March 27th from 2pm to 5pm with golden ticket egg hunt, Easter bonnet contest, Easter party games, crafts, raffle and more. In July an open day is planned with an opportunity to look around and see all the club has to offer. There are details of events and how to join on the new club website www.tmsc.club.
