Fleetwood IOM Christmas Race at West Lancashire Yacht Club

As the Fleetwood MYPBC lake is currently under the influence of weed, the annual Christmas regatta was moved to the West Lancs Yacht Club on the Marine Lake at Southport. To make up for the last minute change of venue, Derek Priestley arranged a ceasefire with the rain gods and ordered blue skies and sunshine. The 20 competitors who made it through the floods were not disappointed!

A-Rigs were the order of the day. Winds flukey, shifts large and at times a welding mask was required to see your boat because of the blinding sunlight and resultant glare on the water. These are the excuses I'm using to explain away my poor results but the usual suspects seemed to navigate the tricky conditions better than most (as they usually do)

The full results are posted below, suffice to say Derek Priestley won the day, Martin Roberts in 2nd, with Mark Dicks 3rd and Cliff Harris 4th. The rest (including me) were noble losers.

Thanks to Dave Hollom & Tom Mills for keeping the races ticking over smoothly & the West Lancs YC folks for running the rescue boat and galley.
