Gul has been confirmed as clothing sponsor for the 2016 5O5 World Championships which will be held at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.

Gul's Mike Pickering said, "we are delighted to be supporting this international event. The 5O5 has a long standing reputation of being at the forefront of dinghy sailing across the globe – an ideal that aligns perfectly with our business."

For almost 50 years Gul has been a leader in watersports technical development and remains the largest UK based Performance Apparel Company. Since the beginning in 1967, the philosophy has been simple - to make the best product possible and support sailors at every level.

Today the 5O5 offers some of the most competitive and challenging racing outside the Olympic classes and for 2016 is attracting a number of the very best international dinghy sailors.

Gul has provided sponsorship for some of the highest profile athletes in the world of surf and sail. Gul is a partner to the Irish Olympic Sailing Team, and was proud to sponsor the British Olympic Sailing Team at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

With the continued strength of the Gul brand, opportunities to license the Gul name have resulted in working with some very well-known partners. Gul now license, watches, luggage, clothing and stationery.

Gul has become synonymous with quality, innovation and performance.

Event organiser and UK Class President Roger Deane stated, "the class has a history of collaborations and sponsorships with some of the very top international brands and it's great that Gul is involved and following on in this tradition."

The Worlds regatta program begins with the UK open Championships on the 27th and 28th of July as a 'pre-Worlds' warm up regatta with the 9 race World Championships starting on 30th July.
