The Notice of Race has been published on the event website for the 2016 World Championship to be held at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) from 27th July to 5th August 2016.

Today the 5O5 offers the most competitive and challenging racing outside the Olympic classes and continues to attract the very best international dinghy sailors.

The 5O5 World Championship regatta is the envy of the dinghy sailing world and enjoys the very highest profile enhanced in previous years by fabulous sponsors, live race tracking and online live race broadcasts during the championships. For the uninitiated here is a short introduction to the 5O5:

The 2015 World Championships were held in Port Elizabeth and were won by Mike Holt and Carl Smit representing the USA. Here is a highlight video of the event:

Our aim in 2016 is to continue to extend 5O5 racing to a wider audience in order to attract new sailors to the class in both the UK and worldwide and to demonstrate that 5O5 yacht racing remains at the forefront, and embraces the very best, in all aspects of our sport. When the event was last in Europe in Kiel 2014, there were over 170 teams competing for this coveted international title.

The Worlds regatta program begins with the UK open Championships on the 27th and 28th of July as a 'pre-Worlds' warm up regatta with the 9 race World Championships starting on 30th July.

The 2016 World Championship event will also host the inaugural 5O5 Classic Championship which will extend the participation to all 5O5 sailors, offering class enthusiasts and classic boat owners to be part of the international 5O5 family. The Notice of Race and further details will be published shortly. A draft outline of the event can be found on the Worlds website.

The 2016 event website can be found at www.505worlds2016.com and discussion on the Facebook Group. For further information please contact .
