Twenty-five XODs from the Lymington and Yarmouth divisions took part in this three race regatta last Saturday.

Race Officer Karl Thorne and team had a difficult job of laying the courses given a very shift and fickle NE breeze. However, three races were run and the final results showed how challenging the conditions were with the leading boats scoring fourteen points.

The first two races too place in very light winds and the course was set relatively short to allow for this. The first race was won convincingly by X140 Lucrezia helmed by Ado Jardine, who led from the start, with X92 Persephone in second and X5 Madcap helmed by Chris Torrens in third. In the second race X32 Ibex, Paul Woodman, Oliver James and Simon McCarthy in their lovely new team kit was first followed by X178 Beatrix helmed by William Norris in second and X164 Diana, Ian Burr and Charlie Dodd in third. By the time of the third race the wind had strengthened which allowed the windward mark to be moved further to the east and making for a very interesting and shifty beat. This race was won by X119 Lone Star, Stuart & Robert Jardine & Doug Rogerson with X9 Zest, Phil & Jo Brewer in second and X170 Oyster, David & Fenella Lees in third.

As can be seen, none of the podium finishers in any of the races managed another podium position in any other races which shows how tricky the conditions were!

In the final count up of the results, Lone Star and Beatrix scored equal points. However, by virtue of her first place in the last race, Lone Star won overall on count-back!

Overall Results: (top ten)
